Family Activities in Yorkshire

Although there's plenty to keep you busy and having fun at Primrose Valley., it would be a shame not to venture further affield and visit the family holiday towns of Scarborough and Bridlington, or the historic Whitby and the quaint, Robin Hood's Bay. For wildlife lovers a visit to Filey and Flamborough Head for the surrounding nature reserves.

Scarborough Seaside Resort

- 10 minutes drive

Scarborough has two beaches - North and South Bay. South bay is the traditional seaside beach with a busy harbour, donkeys and a promenade filled with novelty shops, amusement arcades, fast food outlets. The sand is silky and soft and at high tide there are plenty of rock pools to explore.

North Bay has a blue flag beach and is much more tranquil and houses the Scarborough Sea Life centre, indoor pool, BMX park, Peasholme Park and the Open Air Theatre.

Scarborough Sea Life Aquarium

- 15 mins drive

Situated on the North Bay, this purpose built aquarium is home to many typesof fish, mammals and sea creatures. The prime aim of Sea Life is to ensure that all visitors get the full experience with many hands-on and interactive exhibits, whilst stil maintaining their priority of conservation, rescue and research.

 

Bridlington

- 30 mins drive

The smaller seaside town of Bridlington is further down the coast, on the other side of Flamborough Head, and is very much a traditional seaside resort with a fishing harbour, plenty of amusement arcades, restaurants and a small fun fair.

If the weather turns then a visit to Bridlington Leisure World, an indoor water park with slides, wave pool and rains storm.

Worth a visit even if the weather is fine. this family complex boasts 3 pools, including a wave pool and a learner pool for the little ones. Two large water slides and a the 'rain storm' will ensure hours of fun. The complex also includes a cafe,sports hall and extensive training facilities.

 

 

Go Ape at Dalby Forest

- 40 mins drive

Days out at Go Ape are about adventures, having fun and getting in touch with your inner Tarzan (or Jane). Go Ape is a Tree Top Adventure with zip-wires, Tarzan Swing and scary crossings, you can scale the tree tops whilst enjoying the most amazing breathtaking scenery. Dalby Forest is part of the North York Moors National Park and also offers bike and walking trails, adventure play areas and picnic areas - great holiday fun for kids and parents.

Flamingo Land Resort - Theme Park and Zoo

- 40 mins drive
Flamingo Land is a fantastic family experience, with something for everyone. The zoo has over 140 species of animals and is actively engaged in conservation and research, and offers individual experiences and trails for the older members and Muddy Duck Farm so that toddlers can get involved. The theme park has several different areas, including white knuckly rides, 4D cinema, free entertainment shows and plenty for younger kids to enjoy.

York -Jorvik Viking Centre

- 1 hours drive
The city of York is world famous for it's Roman Walls, Minster, famiy friendly museums and the medieval street, The Shambles, it is also home to the Jorvick Viking Centre, an interactive fun, history lesson. Built on the actual excavations which revealed the early city of Jorvick from 1000 years ago. Travel through time on the family time capsules to capture the smells, and experience the Viking way of life.
